    Oops. Just goes to show that even if you have the right words in the right order, it doesn’t guarantee that you’ll end up with the meaning you intended. It’s easily done though. If I didn’t happen to be English, how would I know that using “welcome to it” would change the meaning to “good riddance”?

    At the same time, signs like those aren’t life and death and the meaning still comes across. For safety signs and the like, a professional translation agency should always be used but otherwise, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a sign raising a smile as well.
