“Our study also shows that 13.5 per cent of the adult population is diabetic, compared with only 8.3 per cent in 1996,” she said at a Press conference.
The survey was conducted over two days — in May and June — and involved 1,985 patients (926 men and 1,033 women) and 90 doctors across the country.
Abdominal girth was one of the key indicators in the survey, with a waist of more than 90 centimeters (35.4 inches) for men and more than 80 centimeters (31.5 inches) for women considered obese, the report said.
