Video Clip Showing Police Brutality Very Disparaging – Mohd Johari
JITRA, Aug 27 (Bernama) — Deputy Internal Security Minister Datuk Mohd Johari Baharom described a video clip showing several policemen beating a youth during an interrogation as very disparaging.

“It shouldn’t have happened… with kicks.. (I) don’t agree,” he told reporters when asked to comment on the video clip shown by TV3 on its Buletin Utama news programme last night.

He said Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan, whom he had contacted over the video clip had assured him that the case was being investigated.

Mohd Johari, who is also Kubang Pasu Member of Parliament, said the incident was believed to have occurred at Subang Jaya police station in May.

“It’s too early to comment on it but I hope to receive a full report on the incident,” he said, adding that he himself had watched the news bulletin.

He said the officers and policemen involved in the incident were still working but police had began investigation into the case.

On allegation by a teacher that he was handcuffed for voicing his displeasure at a policeman who reprimanded his wife for not wearing a seat belt while driving, Mohd Johari said he had not received the report yet.

The teacher, Afendi Ismail, 27, claimed that he was treated like a criminal for he was handcuffed while being taken to Jitra police station where he was not allowed to sit for two hours.

“We have to find out the actual reason. I can’t comment because I have yet to get the report,” said Mohd Johari.
